If you enjoy a contemporary aesthetic, concrete walls might be right up your alley. However, introducing concrete walls into an existing space can be invasive, time-consuming, and expensive. There are other ways of achieving the same aesthetic without so much work, and one of those ways is opting for microtopping walls.
Microtopping, or microcement, is a combination of cement and liquid polymers that can be applied to all kinds of different surfaces, including walls. Microtopping is much more lightweight compared to concrete, which is one of the reasons it is so versatile. There is little need to account for weight when using it. In addition, microtopping bonds to surfaces incredibly well and won’t slide off, so there is no need to worry about applying it to a vertical surface like a wall either.
Microtopping walls can certainly make a statement in your space with their raw concrete look and texture. They stand out, yet they don’t usually overwhelm a room’s design and instead serve as a backdrop to build upon.
When applying microtopping to walls, we take special care to do so in the right conditions. Microcement runs the risk of developing whitish stains, fissures, and cracks if it is applied in cold temperatures, so we heat the work area if we are applying microcement in the winter.
