Porcelain vs. Concrete Sinks

HomeBlogPorcelain vs. Concrete Sinks

For the longest time, it seemed that the only option for a bathroom sink was porcelain. Over time, stainless steel and other metals became popular, but now, we are happy to add concrete sinks to the list of options. Here is how a concrete sink compares to porcelain to help you decide which option is best for you.

Porcelain vs. Concrete Sinks

  • More durable: Over time, porcelain tends to crack and stain, but concrete sinks are far more durable. They can withstand high-traffic use throughout the day, and, when sealed properly, they can even withstand water damage and stains. This makes concrete a perfect option for both bathroom and kitchen sinks.
  • Easily customized. With both porcelain and stainless-steel sinks, you mostly have pre-made sinks that you just hope will fit exactly where you need them to go. Concrete sinks can be molded and shaped to be just the shape and size you need for your kitchen or bathroom. We can also design them further to fit your preferences in style.
  • Lower maintenance: Besides having to apply a sealant either right before or right after installation, concrete sinks are very low maintenance compared to porcelain. Rather than using a special cleaner that is gentle enough on the porcelain, you can use a simple soap and water solution to clean your sink.

While porcelain sinks are the timeless classic of the bathroom, it may be time to upgrade and try something new. Give us a call if you would like to learn more about concrete sinks.
